PROPHECY:
Thus Says The LORD,
My child, you are not to far, distant, or out of My sight. My eyes are on you. You are before Me. I see you, know you, and love you. My presence is with you. My love surrounds you. My peace I give you. I am not distant from you. I am the LORD who is close to you.
I care about you and see all that you go through. I watch your going out and your coming in. I observe what you do and what you say. I am everywhere, in everything, observing you in every way.
When you do not perceive My presence. When you think I am not watching. When you live as if I am not aware. Your God, the LORD of Heaven, is watching and observing. I intervene when you do not think I am. I send My angels, My ministering servants, to guard and protect. My hand is upon you. My love will continually surround you.
When you seek Me. I am near, I hear and observe your every word. When you think your prayers are unheard. I hear and listen intently. You are My main concern.
My eyes are always on you. You are who I desire and watch over. I will always see you and hear you. I will always observe you and keep My eyes on you.
Says The LORD.
MESSAGE:
The God of Heaven, is aware of everything we go through. He has made it known to us; He is the God who sees.
El Roi is one of many names for God. It is found in Genesis 16:13 (NKJV): [13] Then she called the name of the LORD who spoke to her, You-Are-the-God-Who-Sees; for she said, “Have I also here seen Him who sees me?”
This verse is referencing Hagar, the maidservant of Abraham. In Genesis 16, Sarai, Abram’s wife (aka Abraham), gave Hagar to Abram to be his wife. Hagar then became pregnant and conceived. Sarai, then despised Hagar and treated her harshly. Hagar eventually fled from Sarai and Abram into the desert.
The LORD met Hagar in verse 7 and spoke to her. The LORD then prophesied to her in verses 11-12 about her child Ishmael. Hagar, in verse 13 of Genesis 16 called the name of the LORD, you are the God who sees.
There are two Hebrew words in Genesis 16:13 that gives God the name El Roi.
The first Hebrew word is Strong’s H410. אֵל ́ēl, ale; it means the Almighty: --God (god).
The second Hebrew word is Strong’s H7210. רֳאִי roi; it means looking, seeing, or sight.
These two words give us El Roi, a name of Yahweh as, “the God who sees me.”
There are up to 24 names for God, and some have identified over 900 titles throughout the scripture.
What makes El Roi unique? First, it is only mentioned by someone who does not know God. More specifically, Hagar was not seeking God when Yahweh presented Himself. God takes a personal interest in every person. In the middle of the desert, running away from all she knew. Hagar is met by El Roi, the God who sees.
This tells us that God is more interested in you, what you are going through, than you realize.
Hagar was in a lonely place. She left all she knew. The people and land she was familiar with. Hagar was an Egyptian slave, handmaiden of Sarai. When we look at these verses, we can see that God chose to bless an outcast. She was not wanted by those closest to her.
Hagar is also the only person in the Hebrew Bible, man or woman, who gives God a name. This shows us that God delights in intimacy, no matter the background of the person. God delights in making Himself known to people.
This account of God, shows us that He is very involved with mankind. It also shows how God has been very passionate to fulfill a promise made by Jesus in John 14:18 (NKJV): [18] “I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. Also later in Hebrews 13:5 (NKJV): [5] Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
We can see that God has been involved with people. Even those who would seem to be the least of importance. God meant with Abraham and blessed him. Though with Hagar, God met a dejected woman who had no hope, family, or ties to anyone.
It is easy to think that God is not aware of our loneliness, rejection, depression, hopelessness, or other circumstances. Though, we should remember that El Roi, who is Yahweh, is very involved and does see everything we are going through.
If you feel like there is no reason to continue. If you feel like loneliness is all you have. That rejection is your only companion. That people always leave you, abandon you, or make you feel worthless. You need to know, El Roi, the God of Creation sees you, knows you, He is aware of your situation and ready to be involved.
This is the Yahweh, Jesus Christ, is the God I serve, speak on behalf of and rely on. He is always ready to answer any person who seeks Him. All Jesus ever wants is for us to turn to Him and trust Him. The darkest place we could find ourselves in, is the very place Jesus is seen.
Jesus knows everything we could experience. He Himself took our sin, so we can know love. So we can be accepted.
Jesus, is El Roi, the God who sees. He is Immanuel, God with us. He is Jehovah Shammah, The LORD is there. He is Jehovah Shalom; The LORD is peace. He is Jehovah Jireh; The LORD will provide.
No matter our situation. We have a God, who has a name for everything we could go through. He is not distant or absent. He is not unaware or deaf to our cries. He is the God who created you for Himself. The God who will always be there. All He wants is our hearts. Our focus. He wants us to desire Him. He is jealous over you. He gave everything for you.
Let us not hold onto feelings of hopelessness any longer. We do not need to hold onto rejection. We do not need to live feeling worthless.
God has promised to keep His word of never leaving us, nor forsaking us. We know this by a promise in Deuteronomy 31:8 (NKJV): [8] “And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”
God has even made it known in Numbers 23:19 (NKJV) that He will not lie. [19] “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
God has made Himself known as being faithful and true. Revelation 19:11 (NKJV): [11] Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.
By seeking the LORD, the God of Heaven, and making Him your refugee. You are in fact, saying that you believe He is who He says He is.
For the rest of your life, you should remember the God of Heaven is and should also be called, El Roi, the God who sees you.
